Project: YSL Window Display Series: Cobra

Another experiential project for Saint Laurent Window Display was Cobra. An artist of YSL created the idea of showing a mood of romance of fire, subtle, warm and dynamic within a snake looking black metal tower.

First I made a rendering in Rhino and V-ray to show one image with all the lights illuminated with the reflections in the store environment. Then I made another render with no lights on.

In After Effects, I created a subsequence of 17 LED panels with hundreds of lights, and programed a dynamic mask to animate lights turning on and off in a random pattern.

Based on these productions, I imported the render from V-ray into After Effects, skewed each panel to match up with the image, then made a simulated animation.

I exported the video of raw flat lights to our electronic engineers who then projected the video on the LED boards.

I then created the build drawings for our fabrication team for production.
