Marvel came to SCPS to design and make one hero suit and five stunt suits for the character Vulture for the movie "Spider Man, Home Coming". We only had two months before the scene was to shoot. As the lead 3D artist, I was managing another designer to design the armor of the body suit together. The story behind Vulture is that he found some old pieces from Winter Soldier and turn them into his own body suit.
Our team scanned Michael Keaton, so that we could customize the armor based on his body shape. My task was to design a prototype of the mechanical claws for Vulture's boots. There are 3 claws on each boot. Each of the individual claws needed to have three pivot points that the on site team could freeze the post by need. I made laser cut prototypes and our final product was made of aluminum and casting pieces.
My other task was to design Vulture's hand shockers. They needed to look similar to Winter Soldier's suit and with a magnetic element controller. The developed pieces also had to be light and comfortable, and be able to twist. We cast the shocker with a hard shell and expandable foam inside.
After all the parts were printed, i joined our talented fabrication team to assist in molding, casting and painting. We made molds for every single part. The hero suit, worn by Micheal Keaton, was made of hard resin and stunt suits, worn by stunt actors, were made of softer foam and rubber.

A 360 View, modeled in Rhino, rendered in Key Shot.
Here's some details of the claw. For hero suit, each claw is able to freeze for post. For stunt suit, we pre-cast for three posts, so the team on site can easily switch the parts.
